Because Glass is the sequel to both Unbreakable and Split, the cast is clearly comprised of the main actors from those previous movies. Those who've seen Sarah Paulson work off her acting chops in projects in imitation of 12 Years a Slave and American Horror balance will understand why M. Night Shyamalan made the decision he did.
